Solutions For Life has a vested interest in the well being of our communities, and especially our families.  The family is the foundation of our society and our communities.  The family is responsible for the care, nurturing and development of our futures; our children. 

For the most part families do a great job of balancing the daily demands.  Families spend quality time together; families have daily meals with all its members; families support each other and accept the good, the bad and the ugly.  Families celebrate each other and teach about traditions and culture.  We learn right and wrong from our families. 

But families are stressed and pulled in many directions.  Families are made up of individuals and all of the quirks and characteristics that make us who we are.  It is enough to “drive you crazy!” 

Open and honest communications between and with each family member are critical to building the positive supportive relations needed in our hectic society.  These teach the youth about trust, honor, responsibility, relationships and how to become a positive member of our society.  Families provide a safe haven from the outside world.  Positive societal and community values are taught by families.  The type of person that embarks out into the world is largely determined by the family. 

Some families are beset with trials and difficulties; money problems, housing difficulties, military separations, that detract from being able to provide the nurturing that other families are able to provide.  Some families have a tough time in establishing limits and boundaries.  In some families substance use and abuse create disruptions and conflict that tear the fabric of the family apart. 

There is support and assistance to help in times of need.  Reaching out and seeking support is not wrong or weak.  In fact, it takes more courage to recognize this and get help than to continue to suffer in need.  Solutions For Life, and other community organizations can assist.  There are numerous services and programs available to help with critical needs, be they short term or long term.   Services range from treatment, prevention and education.  Knowledge and understanding are the tools to build a positive self and life.
